Artist: Sano di Pietro
Year: 1440 circa
Current location: Palazzo Borgia - Museo Diocesano
Original location: Duomo
DESCRIPTIVE INFORMATION
The small triptych, coming from the Chapter of the Pientina Cathedral, represents in its central compartment the Madonna of humility, in the ante Saint John the Baptist and Saint Catherine of Alexandria and in the cusps the Blessing Christ between angels and Prophets, the Announcing Angel and the Virgin Annunciata.
The painting is characterized by the elegance and preciousness visible in the slender figurines, with soft and nuanced complexions, and in the wise linear rhythms, which bring this work closer to the stylistic features of the late Gothic culture.
